somatic yin yoga

Tending to your body is tending to your soul

what is somatic yin yoga?

Somatic practices help us feel safe coming into our bodies and into the present moment. In this class, you will experientially learn ways that you can aid in regulating your nervous system, allowing for a deeper connection with yourself and the world around you. This enables a more embodied flow through functional Yin Yoga, where we increase our range of motion by loosening fascia that can constrict and hold us in tightness. This class is time for you to slow down and settle into stillness with therapeutic stretching while exploring more of your inner sensations and somatic experience.

Please note that modifications are always available and we listen to each individual's unique body for what is safe.

  • "Meagan brings such a present and calming experience to everything that she hosts. She is so deliberate about ensuring you feel connected and safe. She brings a high level of knowledge and insight into her work. I learn something new every time I am with her! I left her somatic yin class feeling deeply connected to myself, and excited to join her again!"

  • "I appreciated Meagan’s guiding words and encouragement to explore my surroundings and body in a new way. There were ideas that had never occurred to me! I feel I know myself better now and I was able to deeply relax after the class-I can also use this new knowledge in the future!"

  • It's often hard for me to slow down. I come from the generation of "less is less and more is more" so I often feel the pressure to make the most of my free time with vigorous exercise. Meagan's yin class was deeply relaxing and restorative and reminded me that sometimes less is actually more. I left feeling centered, stretched and peaceful. I work with people who are healing big things and I like to remind them that the healing only happens when we are in a "rest and receive" state. That's exactly what Meagan's class felt like to me - an opening and an opportunity to heal.

  • "I really enjoyed the class. Meagan was encouraging, knowledgeable and kind. She was thoughtful about how all kinds of bodies could achieve the stretch intended by each posture and helped each individual tailor their approach."

  • "Such a safe and sweet space Meagan creates to share in. I felt so comfortable to explore my body, mind and breath with your guidance throughout the session."

  • "I am not a relaxed person. This was probably the most relaxed I have been in my life."

  • "Very adaptable for people with disabilities, Meagan was able to help with great feedback on what can work and how to get the most out of it."

  • "Meagan is a fantastic guide through the experience of Somatic Yin Yoga."

  • "This class brings out my sense of self."

  • "I felt great the rest of the day! It was the perfect start to the morning."

  • "I really enjoyed the pacing of the class. I kept having to slow myself down at first but by the end I was a lot more comfortable with the stillness. I could feel my nervous system relaxing during the class, and after it was over I was ready for some breakfast and a nap."

  • Story shared by a class participant to the owner of a studio, who shared this with me:

"She said that your session was amazing and that she is still feeling really good from it even a week or two afterwards. She also mentioned that you talked about finding a safe space inside of themselves, and that she has remembered that, and it allowed her to conquer her phobia of water and do water aerobics."

  • "I have been in bed often from chemo. I felt great after class went out to eat and went for a long walk two days in a row."
